Marvel Animation is developing several shows for Disney+, including “X-Men ’97” and “What If?” One of the projects currently in development is “Eyes Of Wakanda,” an expansion of the “Black Panther” franchise. It is being produced by Ryan Coogler, who directed the “Black Panther” movie.

The upcoming four-episode animated series follows Wakandan warriors who, throughout history, have traveled the world to retrieve dangerous vibranium artifacts.

During a Marvel Animation panel at the D23: Ultimate Fan Event on Saturday, the new series was discussed, providing some new details on the upcoming series.

The show’s creator, Todd Harris, revealed that the new series will focus on how the hidden nation’s past helped shape its future.

Todd also revealed that the show will be introducing a brand new character called, Noni, who is a Wakandan fighter and also teased that “unbeknownst characters in the Marvel Universe that also are from secret cities, whose name also are a title, and they have a glowing fist.”  This is obviously a hint that Iron Fist will be appearing in the upcoming show, which is the first time the character has appeared since the character was introduced in the Netflix series.

Marvel Studios Head of TV and Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, also revealed that:

“The action is insane, and the storytelling is fantastic. It’s both about the history of Wakanda but also expands into the greater MCU at different time periods.”

Very little information has been revealed about “Eyes Of Wakanda” yet, such as when it will be released on Disney+. It also hasn’t been confirmed who will be providing the voice acting for the series, such as whether Finn Jones will be returning as Iron Fist.

Roger’s Take: There are lots of interesting projects coming from Marvel Animation, and you can see that Marvel is enjoying having some space to experiment, which is fun for the creators and hopefully also for us fans.   Plus it also gives us some more adventures in Wakanda, which is never a bad thing.
