Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” Spin-Off “The Testaments” To Begin Production Soon
With the final season of “The Handmaid’s Tale” hitting our screens later this month, Disney has officially announced that a new spin-off series called “The Testaments” is going to be going into production on April 7th 2025.
“The Testaments” is based on a novel by Margaret Atwood, which takes place in the dystopian theocracy of Gilead more than 15 years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale. The story follows the lives of three women, Aunt Lydia , Agnes and Daisy, whose fates become intertwined as they uncover the secrets of Gilead and the resistance against its regime.
Disney has released an image of the cast doing a read-through of the script, confirming that the upcoming series will star Chase Infiniti as Agnes, Lucy Halliday as Daisy, Rowan Blanchard as Shunammite and Mattea Conforti as Becka. Ann Dowd will also be reprising her “The Handmaid’s Tale” role of Aunt Lydia,
Also set to star in the show is Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Birva Pandya, and Kira Guloien.
Bruce Miller will create this new series, serving as the showrunner and executive producer. Other producers are currently finalising their deals. Warren Littlefield from The Littlefield Company will also executive produce, with Amazon MGM Studios as the studio.
Since Amazon MGM Studios is creating the series for Disney’s Hulu, it’s unclear if the show will be released on Amazon Prime Video or Disney+ internationally. The show is available on Amazon Prime Video outside of the United States.
The sixth and final season of “The Handmaid’s Tale” will debut on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States on April 8th with three episodes, then weekly for a finale on May 27th.
