Hulu/Star “Chippendales” Series Production Shut Down Due To Covid
Production on the upcoming Hulu/Star Original series untitled “Chippendales” formerly known as “Immigrant” has been paused due to someone testing positive for Covid in the central Zone 1, which includes the cast and those interacting with.
Filming is shut down for the rest of the week and is set to resume next week.
This new Hulu/Star Original series is being created by “Pam & Tommy” creator Robert Siegel and tells the true story of Somen “Steve” Banerjee (Kumail Nanjiani), the Indian-American entrepreneur who started Chippendales. The series will detail the insane, darkly comedic, crime-ridden story behind the unique male revue that became a cultural phenomenon.
Also appearing in the limited series will be Murray Bartlett, Juliette Lewis and Annaleigh Ashford.
The show will be executive produced by both Robert Siegel and Kumall Nanjiani, along with Dylan Sellers, Jenni Konner, Matt Shakman, Emily V. Gordon, Nora Silver and Rajiv Joseph, who is writing the series along with Mehar Sethi.
Robert Siegel and Jenni Konner will be the co-showrunners for the show, with Matt Shakman directings. Jacqui Rivera is co-executive producer and Annie Wyman is co-producer.
20th Television has created the series for Disney’s streaming services, where it will be released as a Hulu Original in the US and as a Star Original on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ around the work.
