Hulu Picks Up “Detective Agent Derek” Animated Series
Hulu is continuing to build out its animated comedy lineup by picking up the pitch for a brand new series called “Detective Agent Derek”.
The new cop show is filtered through the internet’s weirdest subcultures. Every episode is structured like a serious crime drama — tackling murders, conspiracies, criminal organisations- but the lens is warped: Derek is a nunchuck-wielding, anime-obsessed neckbeard who should never be taken seriously… and yet the world treats him as an alpha saviour.
According to Deadline, this show will be created by Nick Kreiss and a trio of artists called Big Grey Mass, which includes Julian Bonosconi, Griffin Poole, and Spencer Rich, who will also executive produce the show along with Douglas Banker and Conor Welch.
Nick Kreiss has previously worked with Hulu on “Bad Friends” and also starred in “Little Bitches” and “Jackass Forever”.
No other details on this project, such as who might star in it, or when it might get released on Hulu/Disney+ have been revealed yet.
As with any project in development, this project might take a while to get to our screens and might go through some creative changes.
