20th Television is developing a new pilot for an upcoming multi-camera comedy called “Mid-Century Modern”, which follows three best friends — gay gentlemen of a certain age — who, after an unexpected death, decide to spend their golden years living together in Palm Springs where the wealthiest one lives with his mother and a naked Gen Z housekeeper. As a chosen family, they prove that no matter how hard things get, there’s always someone around to remind you it would be better if you got your neck done.

According to Variety, the new project is being created by David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, who were behind “Will & Grace”. It will also be executive produced by Ryan Murphy and it’s going to be directed by James Burrows.

“Mid-Century Modern” is going to star Matt Bomer, Nathan Lane and Linda Lavin. The third friend and the naked housekeeper haven’t yet been cast.

Nathan Lane will play the aforementioned wealthiest of the friends, a successful businessman named Bunny Schneiderman who’s forever in search of love but needs to be convinced he’s worthy of it. Nathan has previously starred in “Only Murders In The Building” and “The Birdcage”

Linda Lavin will play his mom, Sybil, who’s wise and caring but also critical and smothering. Linda has previously starred in “The OC’ and “Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules”.

And Matt Bomer will be playing the role of Jerry Frank, who is described is described as “pure of heart, hard of body and soft of head.” Matt has previously starred in “White Collar” and “Maestro”.

If “Mid-Century Modern” is picked up for a series, we should expect to also see the show released as a Star Original on Disney+ internationally.
