Hulu Acquires US Rights For Spanish Thriller “Innate”

Disney has acquired the US rights to the Spanish psychological thriller, “Innate”, for Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.

The eight-part series is set 25 years after Sara discovered that her father was a murderer, a new death seems to be connected to his crimes from the past. The psychologist’s calm life comes crashing down when she suspects that her father’s not the one behind the crime this time, but rather her own teenage son.

“Innate” stars Elena Anaya, Imanol Arias, Roberto Álamo and Teo Soler. It has been directed by Lino Escalera and Inma Torrente, with executive producers including César Benítez, Emilio Amaré, Álvaro Benítez, Daniel March and Carrie Stein. The show has been created by Fran Carballal and Enrique Lojo.

The series was commissioned by Netflix in Spain and was created by ITV Studios-owned Plano a Plano, produced by Innato La Series AIE in association with Dynamic Television.

Carrie Stein, Dynamic’s President of Global Television, said in a statement regarding the acquisition:

“With Hulu showcasing the world-class talent and gripping narrative of the series, we are confident Innate will resonate strongly with U.S. audiences”.

Roger’s Take: Disney continues to expand its international offerings for U.S. audiences.  It’s a shame that Disney wasn’t able to pick up the global rights for Disney+, as I’m sure this would have also been a popular series for subscribers across Latin America and Europe.
