Disney has announced that the adult-animated series, “Hit-Monkey” is going to be returning for a second season.  The series was originally released in November 2021 on Hulu in the United States and as a Star Original on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ around the world.

The series tells the story of what happens after a Japanese snow monkey’s tribe is slaughtered, he joins forces with the ghost of an American assassin, and together, they begin killing their way through the Yakuza underworld.

The show is co-created and executive produced by Josh Gordon & Will Speck, who will be returning for the second season.  Also returning for the second season are some of the cast, including Olivia Munn, Jason Sudeikis, Ally Maki and Fred Tatasciore.  Leslie Jones will join the show for season two, which will be set in New York.

This renewal of a second season comes as a surprise, since this show was one of the last few projects to be created by Marvel Television, before it was merged with Marvel Studios.  Many other animated Marvel shows were cancelled, such as “Howard The Duck” and the “Revengers”, while “MODOK” had one season released, before being cancelled.

There are going to be some differences with the second season of “Hit-Monkey”, as with Marvel Television no longer existing, 20th Television Animation is going to be taking over the project, which will result in the series dropping the Marvel branding from the show’s title, but it may still be attached to the show in some ways.

The first season of “Hit-Monkey” is available to stream now on Hulu in the United States and as a Star Original on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ around the world.
