“High Potential” Renewed For A Second Season
One of this winter’s biggest successes for Disney has been the new drama series, “High Potential”, which broke viewing records on ABC, Hulu, and Hulu on Disney+ and digital platforms.
The hit series is based on the popular French series “Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI)” and it has been written by Drew Goddard (“The Good Place,” “The Martian”.
“High Potential” follows a single mom with an exceptional mind, whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective.
Because of the good viewership numbers, Disney has announced that it has given the show an early renewal for the 2025/2026 television season. It’s not yet been revealed how many episodes the new season will consist of, but it’s expected to get a larger episode order than the first season, which consists of 13 episodes.
“High Potential” stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, Daniel Sunjata as Karadec, Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Özdil, Amirah J as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot and Judy Reyes as Selena.
“High Potential” is produced by ABC Signature/20th Television. Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg are the executive producers for Goddard Textiles. Rob Thomas serves as showrunner and executive produces alongside Dan Etheridge of Spondoolie Productions, as well as Pierre Laugier and Anthony Lancret of Itinéraire Productions, a UGC company and Jean Nainchrik of Septembre Productions, a Mediawan Company. Alethea Jones is the director and executive producer. Kaitlin Olson serves as producer.
New episodes of the first season of “High Potential” are currently airing on ABC and available the next day on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States. The series will also premiere on Disney+ in the UK on January 23rd 2025.
Roger’s Take: “High Potential” being renewed for a new season is great news (especially just days before the UK launch, since now I can get into the show, knowing it’s not already cancelled!). It’s not a huge surprise to see it has been renewed following the positive viewership numbers on ABC, Hulu and Disney+ and it’s also great to see Disney has faith in these traditional type shows, which perform well on both linear and streaming.
