“High Potential” Finds Its New Showrunner
This coming Fall, Disney is releasing a brand new drama series called “High Potential”, which has been created by Oscar-nominated writer Drew Goddard and based on the popular French series, “Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI),” .
The crime procedural stars the incomparable Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, a single mom with an exceptional mind whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that the showrunner, Rob Thomas, had left the project and that ABC was looking for a replacement. The decision was apparently “amicable” between ABC and Rob, and he is still working on some other projects in development at ABC Signature. Production on the series was temporaily halted as part of a pre-planned production hiatus, with filming set to resume next month.
Deadline has reported that Todd Harthan has stepped into take over the role of showrunner on “High Potential”. Todd has previously worked on the hit 20th Television series, “The Resident”, in addition to “Rosewood”.
“High Potential” also stars Daniel Sunjata as Karadec, Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Osman, Amirah J as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot and Judy Reyes as Selena.
“High Potential” is produced by ABC Signature. Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg executive produce for Goddard Textiles. Dan Etheridge of Spondoolie Productions is an executive producer, as well as Pierre Laugier and Anthony Lancret of Itinéraire Productions, a UGC company and Jean Nainchrik of Septembre Productions, a Mediawan Company. Alethea Jones is director and executive producer. Kaitlin Olson also serves as producer.
The new series is set to debut on ABC this fall on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. this fall, after “Dancing With the Stars.” These episodes will be released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+. As with other originals, expect to see this released as a Star Original on Disney+ around the world.
