Hayley Atwell Returning For Marvel’s “Avengers: Doomsday”
Recently, it was revealed that Chris Evans would be returning for the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” film, which will also see Robert Downey Jr return, though he will be playing a different character, Victor Von Doom.
It’s unknown if Chris Evans will be returning as the Steve Roger’s we know from the previous movies, or if he will be playing a different variant version, such as Captain Hydra, since the new film is going to be dealing with the end of the Multiverse Saga.
But Chris Evans won’t be the only actor returning, as Deadline is reporting that Hayley Atwell is also apparently going to be returning. Much like with other characters returning, with the Multiverse element, it’s unclear if Hayley will return as Agent Carter, or possibly even Captain Carter, who appeared in the animated “What If?” series and “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness”.
Apparently, Marvel Studios was trying to develop a new Captain America standalone film with both Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell returning, but they weren’t able to nail the script down and decided that “Avengers: Doomsday” would be a better fit.
“Avengers: Doomsday” is set to hit cinemas on May 1st 2026, and will be followed a year later with “Avengers: Secret Wars”, both of which will be directed by the Russo Brothers, who previously directed “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame”.
Roger’s Take: There are still plenty of options for Hayley’s return since this could just be a flashback scene or a follow-from the events after “Endgame”, or an entirely different version of Agent Carter or Captain Carter with a more prominent role since the Multiverse makes everything possible. Either way, I think bringing her back, even just for one scene to set up the return of Steve Rogers as Captain America, should be a great on-screen moment.
