During a special Walt Disney Studio Showcase at the Destination D23 event in Orlando, it was announced that “Haunted Mansion” will be released on Disney+ and on digital retailers to purchase on October 4th 2023. The film will also be released on physical media later that month.

Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, Walt Disney Pictures’ “Haunted Mansion” is about a woman and her son who enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters.

The film features a standout comedic ensemble cast of LaKeith Stanfield (“Knives Out”), Tiffany Haddish (“Bad Trip”), Owen Wilson (Marvel’s “Loki”), Danny DeVito (“Jumanji: The Next Level”), Rosario Dawson (“Zombieland: Double Tap”), Chase W. Dillon (“The Underground Railroad”) and Daniel Levy (“Schitt’s Creek”) with Academy Award winner Jamie Lee Curtis (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”) and Academy Award winner Jared Leto (“House of Gucci”).

Whilst the film pays homage to the original ride and its charm, the film also explores many culturally authentic themes while simultaneously bringing to the fore some deeper themes. The result is a classic family movie. Like the ride itself it will play some magic tricks on the audience, because while it’s a story that should absolutely make the audience laugh and feel a sense of escape, it could also transform their fears about death and grief into something that we can actually face and overcome.
