Earlier this summer, Marvel Studios was filming the third instalment in the “Deadpool” franchise in the United Kingdom, which will see Ryan Reynolds return as the Merc with a Mouth, along with Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine. Also starring in the film will be “The Crown‘s” Emma Corrin and “Succession‘s” Matthew Macfadyen, along with the returning Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, Karan Soni, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Jennifer Garner, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic.

However, filming was suspended when SAG-AFTRA went on strike in July, which, depending on how long the actor’s strike goes on for, may result in the film being delayed, which is currently scheduled to be released on May 3rd, 2024.

During a recent interview at the Toronto International Film Festival with EW, Shawn Levy, who is directing the film, shared an update on the third “Deadpool” film.

“Like the rest of the world, I’ve waited two decades to see Wolverine in a whole movie with Deadpool, and I don’t know if this is our last shot at Wolverine on screen, so I was going to make goddamned sure we get the old yellow and blue just once, and that we get it right.”

There were a number of photos from the set leaked out onto the internet, before Disney also released a higher quality version, since the information was out there by then.  Shawn explained how he and his team went through

“multiple, multiple, multiple iterations and fittings to make sure the suit was correct. It also helps that I’m making this movie within the MCU, so I have access to an army of the nerdiest nerds available to a Marvel project.

He also says that he and Reynolds also wanted the film to be as realistic as possible and

“wanted our movie to be grounded and not feel like a bunch of physical environments filmed on a soundstage.  Fortunately, it seems global reaction to those costumes has been overwhelmingly positive, so all’s well that ends well.”

There have been lots of reports of this film featuring many guest appearances from previous instalments in the Marvel films, including Jennifer Garner and others, to which Levy replied:

“I’d rather not weigh in on that, but I’ll say this.  The rumors of actors, singers, sports stars who are all apparently in Deadpool 3 are fabulous. If all I read was the internet, I would have the greatest cast ever assembled in the history of cinema, so I’ll simply say that some of those rumors are true, and some of them aren’t.”

While we wait for the new film, the first two “Deadpool” films and “Logan” are available to stream now on Disney+.
