Last year, it was revealed that Disney was developing a new version of “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” for Disney+, which is being directed by Marvin Lemus and written by Matt Lopez.   It is based on Judith Viorst’s 1972 children’s book of the same name.

The upcoming film tells the story of 11-year-old Alexander Garcia, who thinks he has the worst luck in the world. When his family sets off on a road trip to California, he’s pretty sure disaster awaits at every corner. His anxiety only increases when a family secret is revealed.

“Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” will star Eva Longoria, Jesse Garcia, Thom Nemer, Paulina Chávez and Rose Portillo.  Originally, it was revealed that George Lopez was going to star in the film, but it was later confirmed that he was no longer involved in the project and was replaced by Cheech Marin.

During the red carpet event for this weekend’s Critics Choice Awards, Deadline spoke with actor, Harvey Guillén, who shared an update on the upcoming Disney+ Original film, ‘Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day’.  Harvey has previously starred in the FX series, “What We Do In The Shadows”.

Harvey Guillén revealed that he will be playing a “magical, mystical, sassy” character in the upcoming reboot.

Yeah, that’s really a fun project. I get to play character that’s out of the ordinary of the roles I get to play. So it’s really fun. It’s a little bit magical and a little bit mystical, very sassy, and I am really excited to show that different side of a character. So I’m really excited for that. And the cast is amazing. Evil and Goria is a producer, and so it’s been great and it’s a great project for families to see.

This isn’t the first time Disney has told the story of “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”, as ten years ago, it released a version starring Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner.

No release date has been announced for when the new “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” film will arrive on Disney+, but hopefully, it won’t be too long until we know more details.
