Disney’s 20th Television is currently developing a new half-hour comedy series called, “Not Dead Yet”, which will star Gina Rodriguez.

“Not Dead Yet” follows Nell Stevens (Rodriguez), a broke and newly single self-described disaster, who is working to restart the life and career she left behind 10 years ago. A once-successful journalist, Nell put her career on hold to help her fiancé get his restaurant off the ground. Following their breakup, she takes the only job she can get – writing obituaries – which at first seems like a step backwards but ultimately might be exactly what she needs to move forward.

The new series is adapted from the book “Confessions of a 40-something F**k Up” by Alexandra Potter.

“Not Dead Yet” also stars Joshua Banday as Dennis and Angela Gibbs as Cricket, along with Rick Glassman, who plays Nell’s roommate.

Deadline has revealed that Hannah Simone has joined the cast of the series and will be playing a new character called Sam, who is the editor of the Life & Style section of the newspaper and a busy working mom. A former wild child, Sam has hit her stride and seems to handle everything thrown her way with ease and an organized “mom purse.” But underneath this exterior, Sam struggles with taking too much on and misses her carefree single days when it was her and Nell against the world. She’s torn between her big work goals and missing the person she was before the kids and the big job. Hopefully, having Nell back will help her find that balance.  Hannah Simone has recently starred in the hit comedy series, “New Girl” and

The series is being created by David Windsor and Casey Johnson (“This Is Us,” “The Real O’Neals”).

Casey Johnson and David Windsor are creators and executive producers. Also executive producing is Gina Rodriguez and Wonderland Sound and Vision’s McG, Mary Viola and Corey Marsh.

The series will be released on ABC and Hulu in the United States. The series is set to debut in midseason.  Since this series is produced by 20th Television, it’s expected that this series will also be released as a Star Original on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ internationally.
