Every year there are new Halloween specials added to Disney+. These are added to the plethora of Halloween films, series and specials already available. As October comes to a close, I’m going to rank the Halloween films and specials on Disney+ I’ve ranked this year. Remember this list is completely subjective.

10. HALLOWEENTOWN HIGH

This third installment in the “Halloweentown” franchise just didn’t have the magic of the first two. It felt like they were just trying to capitalize on its popularity with this Disney Channel Original Movie, rather than try something original.

9. GIRL VS. MONSTER

This Disney Channel Original Movie takes a slightly different spin on the age old tale of the monster hunter that much capture the monsters. This time, it’s the daughter of the monster hunters who must learn to become a monster hunter after her parents are captured. It was fun. But I’ve seen better.

8. Z-O-M-B-I-E-S

The first in Disney’s most recent popular series of Disney Channel Original Movies introduces us to zombies who just want to have normal lives and the mortals who fear them and have rounded them up in communities very similar to camps. It’s a fun musical with talented singers and actors.

7. MICKEY’S A TALE OF TWO WITCHES

This Mickey Mouse special follows Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck as they look to become full-fledged witches. It’s a cute special that’s great for kids and can keep parents entertained as well.

6. THE SPOOKIEST STORY EVERY: A MICKEY MOUSE HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR

This special features Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy all trying to come up with the spookiest story ever to scare Mickey’s and Donald’s nephews. The stories they keep coming up with are just too nice for the kids and that is exactly how Mickey Mouse should be. It’s a lot of fun.

5. TRICK OR TREAT

This Disney animated short follows Donald as he plays tricks on his nephews while they are trick or treating. A nice witch sees what happens and plays tricks on Donald until he is nicer to his nephews.

4. HOCUS POCUS 2

The long-awaited sequel to the much beloved “Hocus Pocus” finally hit Disney+, and it was a lot better than I expected. Is it spectacular? No. But I was honestly worried about how bad it would be. There was an unnecessary musical number, but overall, it was a solid, fun sequel.

3. THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Tim Burton’s masterpiece, directed by Henry Sellick, is a must-see every October. The story of Jack Skellington, Sally and the rest of the residents of Halloweentown as the Pumpkin King takes over Christmas is truly beautiful.

2. WEREWOLF BY NIGHT

The first “special presentation” from Marvel introduces some of the darker characters to the MCU. We not only got to see the titular Werewolf By Night, but also Emma Bloodstone and Man-Thing. It was a fun escape from your normal Marvel fare and a nice look at something different.

1. HOCUS POCUS

This is still my favorite Halloween movie. It’s been a tradition since I was a kid and will remain a tradition as far as I can tell. I love how fun this movie is. It’s not really scary. It’s a little spooky in parts, but not too spooky. It’s fun for the family.

Those are my rankings. What Halloween movies and specials have you watched on Disney+ this year? Which ones were your favorites?
