Last year, FOX released a brand new drama series called “Rescue HI-Surf”, which is a action-packed drama that follows the personal and professional lives of the open-water lifeguards who patrol and protect the North Shore of O’ahu — the most famous and dangerous stretch of coastline in the world.

The show debuted on the FOX channel last September, and it was also made available on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+, however it’s been revealed that FOX has cancelled the show after one season.

While Warner Bros. Television makes the show for FOX, there are no plans to sell it to other networks or streaming services.

FOX had high hopes for the series, giving it an initial bonus seven episode order after the premiere and they also tried to give it a boost during the Superbowl weekend, but ultimately, the viewership of this series wasn’t good enough to warrant another season.

The series stars Robbie Magasiva (Wentworth, Bad Behaviour), Arielle Kebbel (The Vampire Diaries, John Tucker Must Die), Adam Demos (Sex / Life, UnReal), Kekoa Kekumano (The White Lotus, Aquaman), Alex Aiono (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, Doogie Kameāloha M.D) and Zoe Cipres (Roswell, New Mexico). In addition, Sea Shimooka (3 Body Problem, Arrow), Shawn Hatosy (Animal Kingdom) and Ian Anthony Dale (The Resident) also star in the series.

“Rescue: HI-Surf” was created by Matt Kester, who is also an executive producer, along with John Wells and Daniele Nathanson, who are also the co-showrunners. Erin Jontow (John Wells Productions) is also an executive producer.

The first season of “Rescue: HI-Surf” is available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.

Roger’s Take: It’s a shame FOX didn’t give this show a little more time to establish an audience, but unfortunately, new shows have an uphill battle, especially those that are completely brand new and don’t feature any well-known actors to attract new viewers.
