During the Walt Disney Companies Annual Shareholders meeting, Disney opened the presentation with a video montage of some of Disney’s biggest successes from across films, Tv, theme parks and much more.
Part of this presentation included a photo from the brand new Disney+ Original series, “National Treasure”.
The brand new series is an expansion of the “National Treasure” movie franchise centred on a young heroine, Jess (Lisette Alexis), a brilliant and resourceful DREAMer who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her family’s mysterious past and save a lost Pan-American treasure.
“National Treasure” will star Catherine Zeta-Jones as the shows main villain, Billie, a badass billionaire, black-market antiquities expert, and treasure hunter who lives by her own code. The series also stars Zuri Reed, Jordan Rodrigues, Antonio Cipriano, Jake Austin Walker, and Lyndon Smith.
Filming is currently underway in Baton Rouge and is being produced by ABC Signature for Disney+.
Jerry Bruckheimer, Cormac & Marianne Wibberley, Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed executive produce the series alongside Rick Muirragui, who also serves as a writer. Jon Turteltaub is also an executive producer. Mira Nair is directing and executive producing.
Both “National Treasure” films are available on Disney+ now.
