Filming On New Marvel Disney+ Series “Wonder Man” Suspended
With the Writer’s Strike now in its fourth week, more projects are starting to get impacted, as according to Deadline, Marvel Studios has suspended filming on the upcoming Disney+ series, “Wonder Man”, which follows Simons Williams, who in the comics is a scion of a wealthy industrialist, his company losing out to Tony Stark’s Stark Industries. Williams goes to work for the villain Baron Zemo who gives him ionic talents, that being extreme strength. Wonder Man ultimately switches to being a hero and teams up with the Avengers.
Filming on the new Disney+ series started in April, but recently, this was disrupted on many occasions due to picketers, but now filming has been suspended until the writer’s strike has finished, which could take months.
This isn’t the only Marvel project to get delayed, as “Thunderbolts” and “Blade” have also been impacted, following issues with the script not being finished. Disney has been able to continue making some projects, like “Agatha: Coven Of Chaos”, since the scripts are fully completed. However, no alterations can be done on the fly, since there are no writers on set to do so.
Officially, Disney hasn’t announced anything publicly about the “Wonder Man” series, so we don’t know too much about it yet. But we do know that the new series will star Yahya Adbul-Mateen II as the title character in the series, along with Ben Kingsley, who will also be returning as Trevor Slattery, and it will also star Lauren Glazier and Demetrius Grosse. With Baron Zemo being a major part of Wonder Man’s origin, it’s expected that Daniel Brühl will also return to the character that he has played in “Captain America: Civil War” and returned in the Disney+ series, “The Falcon And The Winter Soldier”.
“Wonder Man” is going to be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed, “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings”, and he will also be directing the upcoming “Avengers: Kang Dynasty” film. Also directing the new series will be Stella Meghie, she has previously directed “The Photograph”, along with episodes of “Grown-ish”, and “First Wives Club”. Tara Duncan, Kevin Feige and Asher Goldstein are also listed as producers on the new Disney+ show, which is being written by Madeline Walter, Paul Bradford Welsh and Andrew Guest.
