Disney has signed a new licensing deal with Paramount’s Comedy Central linear channel to bring the hit adult animated series, “Family Guy” to it’s animation block, which also includes “South Park”, “Beavis and Butt-Head” and Disney’s “Futurama”.

“Family Guy” features the adventures of the Griffin family. Endearingly ignorant Peter and his stay-at-home wife Lois reside in Quahog, R.I., and have three kids. Meg, the eldest child, is a social outcast, and teenage Chris is awkward and clueless when it comes to the opposite sex. The youngest, Stewie, is a genius baby bent on killing his mother and destroying the world. The talking dog, Brian, keeps Stewie in check while sipping martinis and sorting through his own life issues.

The show will be joining Comedy Central on September 2nd 2024 with a all-day marathon on Labor Day, before taking up its slot on Tuesday 3rd September 2024.

This deal will be on a non-exclusive basis, so the show will remain available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+. Previous seasons were broadcast on FX/FXX, and the new season will return on Fox next year. Later this year, two new holiday specials for Halloween and Christmas will also be released exclusively on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.

Laurel Weir, EVP and Head of Programming, Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks, said in a statement to Deadline

“We are excited to welcome Family Guy to Comedy Central joining the best in adult animation alongside South Park, Futurama, and Beavis and Butt-Head, among others. Delivering bold, irreverent and culturally impactful content to our fans is our top priority which makes Family Guy the perfect complement to our robust adult animation slate.”

“Family Guy” is produced by Disney’s 20th Television Animation. MacFarlane is the creator and exec producer, Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin serve as executive producers and showrunners, while Steve Callaghan, Tom Devanney, Danny Smith, Kara Vallow, Mark Hentemann, Patrick Meighan and Alex Carter also exec produce.

Roger’s Take: It doesn’t come as a huge surprise to hear that “Family Guy” has been licensed out, since it’s additional revenue for Disney and with over 400 episodes of the hit show available, there’s enough to spread around and with linear television viewership declining, it feels a little bit like just grabbing some additional cash before some of these networks eventually close down.
