Elizabeth Olsen Reveals She’s “Happy To Come Back” To Marvel As The Scarlet Witch
It’s been over two years since Marvel Studios released “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness”, which saw Doctor Strange take on the Scarlet Witch, who was willing to do anything to bring her boys back to life after the events of the Disney+ series, “WandaVision”.
In the epic finale, after her boys are scared by the Scarlet Witch’s action, it looks like she is killed by the collapse of Mount Wundagore, leading many to speculate that the character died and wouldn’t be returning. However, unless you see a character’s body, that doesn’t mean the character is necessarily dead and the existence of the Multiverse, means characters can be brought back, leaving the door wide open for a return.
Later this month, Marvel Studios is releasing a new series called “Agatha All Along,” which continues the story set out in “WandaVision” and will also continue in “Vision Quest.” The trailer for “Agatha All Along” teases that Wanda has died with a body with a tag with a W written on it, which allows Agatha to escape from the twisted prison she is living in.
Elizabeth Olsen has spoken out about her desire to play other characters, having played the Scarlet Witch for almost a decade in many Marvel films and her own “WandaVision” series.
“I’m trying to figure out… Because, specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel. I don’t want… it’s not that I don’t want to be associated as just this character. But I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance. I so much want to do films right now. And I hope some of them come together in the way I feel like they can. But yeah, that’s something that I need. I just need other characters in my life. There’s no longevity in one character.”
It’s been a couple of years since Elizabeth last played Wanda, but she has appeared in many different shows and films, such as “Love & Death” and “His Three Daughters,” which has allowed her some freedom to play other characters.
However, it looks like Elizabeth Olsen is open to returning to the role, as stated during an interview with FM104.
“It’s a character that I love going back to when there’s a way to use her well, and I think I have been lucky that when I started I was used well. I think people didn’t know what to do with me for a second there… if there’s a good way to use her I’m always happy to come back.”
Roger’s Take: With “Vision Quest” continuing the “WandaVision” story and with two new Avengers movies set to be released in cinemas in 2026 and 2027, it would be interesting to see the return of the “Scarlet Witch.” Plus, with Marvel Studios reducing the amount of major releases, plus no doubt, a nice big paycheck, I could easily see Elizabeth returning to the role.
