“Doctor Odyssey” Ratings Set Off To A Great Start
Last week, Disney released the first episode of its brand-new drama series, Doctor Odyssey. The series tells the story of Max, played by Joshua Jackson, the new onboard doctor for a luxury cruise ship where the staff works hard and plays harder. It’s all hands on deck as Max and his small but mighty medical team navigate unique medical crises and each other miles from shore.
Disney has announced that the first episode of this new high-octane procedural series pulled in a 13.54 million viewers so far. Across the first three days across ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney+, and digital platforms and excluding linear encores, it delivered 7.59 million Total Viewers and was ABC’s best drama premiere in four years – since 11/17/2020.
After its first full day on Hulu, “Doctor Odyssey” hit No. 1 on the Hulu Top 15 Today list and has remained on the list ever since, along with Murphy’s other long-running hit series “9-1-1”. “Doctor Odyssey” was also the No. 1 entertainment show in their time period.
“Doctor Odyssey” airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and streams the next day on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States. The series is also being released as a Star Original on Disney+ internationally. Previous episodes are also available to stream on Hulu and Disney+.
“Doctor Odyssey” is produced by 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television, is written and executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken. Joshua Jackson and Don Johnson serve as executive producers. Paris Barclay directs and executive produces. Eric Paquette, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson and Nissa Diederich also serve as executive producers.
Roger’s Take: With Disney creating fewer new shows, it’s great to see a brand new original series connecting with audiences, and it’ll be interesting to see how the viewership does in the coming weeks. Will people continue to tune in, will more audiences find the show, or will it lose interest?
