Last summer, Disney released a brand new comedy series called “Pretty Freekin Scary” on Disney+ and on the Disney Channel, however it doesn’t look like it will be returning for another season.

The series tells the story of fourteen-year-old Frankie Ripp, who had a perfect life — a great family, an annoying little brother, a popular boyfriend and a BFF she could always count on. However, her life took a surprising turn after an unfortunate incident. After some heated debate in the Underworld with the Grim Reaper herself, Frankie is forced to navigate life with her new Underworld guardians, Pretty and Scary, in the most challenging setting of all … middle school. Pretty freekin scary, huh?

The series stars Eliana Su’a as “Frankie”, along with Kyan Samuels, Leah Mei Gold, Yonas Kibreab, and Emma Shannon.

It’s been over a year since the show was initially released, and while it ended on a cliffhanger, we haven’t heard anything more about a potential second season. However, this past week, Eliana Su’a confirmed on social media that the show had been cancelled after one season.  Eliana was asked by a fan about the second season, to which she replied:

unfortunately no season 2

Jason P. Hauser created “Pretty Freekin Scary,” and Jessica Kaminsky was the showrunner. Other executive producers include Kory Lunsford, Loris Kramer Lunsford, Sean Gorman, Ian Lambur, Ryan Wiesbrock, Jason Netter, and Ed Galton.

Roger’s Take:  This doesn’t come as a huge surprise since it’s been over a year since the show debuted, and there hasn’t been any news on more seasons since then.  Unfortunately, it’s not uncommon for shows to be cancelled, especially if this series hasn’t clicked with audiences or pulled in enough views.  However, over the last year or so, Disney has been drastically cutting back on how much content it creates to save money, and anything that hasn’t been performing has been getting cancelled.

You can watch “Pretty Freekin Scary” on Disney+ now, and with any cancellation, I’d suggest if you haven’t finished watching it or haven’t got around to it, watch it soon, as Disney does regularly remove cancelled shows from its platforms to save money.

What do you think of “Pretty Freekin Scary” being cancelled?  Let me know on social media!
