On Saturday, Disney held a special premiere event for its brand new film, “Haunted Mansion”, at its Disneyland Resort in California. This was the first major film premiere to take place since the Screen Actor’s Guild went on strike on Friday, and while the film’s actors couldn’t attend, the movie’s director Justin Simien, was in attendance to speak with to the audience and press.

Costumed characters, including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Cruella, Maleficent and the grim grinning ghosts, joined the special guests at this evening’s “spirited” celebration. Disney had also flown in some special cast members who work at the “Haunted Mansion” themed attractions in other theme parks, including Tokyo, Hong Kong and Paris.

Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, Disney’s “Haunted Mansion” is about a woman and her son who enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters. Directed by Justin Simien, the film features an all-star cast ensemble cast including LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Chase W. Dillon and Daniel Levy, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Jared Leto as The Hatbox Ghost. The film’s producers are Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, with Nick Reynolds and Tom Peitzman serving as executive producers.

The event was sponsored by State Farm, Zillow, Mars, Dolby, Michaels, New Orleans & Company and Generation Tux.

Everybody who attended was able to ride the Haunted Mansion attraction in Disneyland’s New Orleans Square, before seeing the movie at the Hyperion Theater at Disney’s California Adventure.

The film opens in theatres in the US and Canada on July 28th 2023 and will be coming to Disney+ later this year.
