Over the past two nights, the annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards took place at the Palladium Times Square in New York City.

The News & Documentary Emmy Awards honor programming content from more than 2,300 submissions that originally premiered in the calendar-year 2023, judged by a pool of over 1,000 peer professionals from across the television and streaming/digital media industry.

Disney had a successful haul of wins, picking up twenty awards across content brands and studios ABC News, Disney+, Hulu, and National Geographic.  Marvel Studios also picked up its first Emmy for a documentary, with “Stan Lee,” which traces his life from his challenging upbringing to the meteoric rise of Marvel Comics and is told in the voice of the Disney Legend.

Following ABC News’ banner year of award nominations, “ABC World News Tonight with David Muir” earned two Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Live News Program for the second year in a row; ABC News Studios earned four Emmys, their first-ever for “On the Brink,” “Black in Vegas,” “Grand Knighthawk” and “Rap Trap: Hip-Hop on Trial.” Additionally, “IMPACT x Nightline” secured its first-ever Emmy Award for “On the Brink,” and “20/20” won two Emmys for longform projects, “It Happened Here: A Year in Uvalde” and “Our Barbara.” ABC News Live earned their first-ever Emmy Award for “Israeli Leader Speaks Out.”

After National Geographic set its own record for earning the most nominations ever for the brand, it secured a total of 10 wins, including its most-nominated series, “Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller,” which won five awards. Additionally, “Incredible Animal Journeys,” “JFK: One Day in America,” “Path of the Panther,” “Nazis at Nuremberg: The Lost Testimony” and “Science Fair: The Series” each won awards.
