At a special presentation at the CES Show in Las Vegas, it was announced that Disney+ will soon support HDR10+, the most advanced HDR technology, bringing the highest-quality movies and TV episodes.

With HDR10+ you get a more vibrant and lifelike viewing experience, as it enhances the dynamic range and color accuracy of your content, delivering stunning visuals with greater detail and depth.

Disney+ will join many other major streaming platforms, including Apple TV+, Hulu, Paramount+, Prime Video, and YouTube, which already offer HDR10+.

The announcement was made at a press conference at CES 2025, which Marc Finer of Communication Research Inc. hosted on behalf of HDR10R+ Technologies LLC, which certifies and administers the technology.

During the event, it was also revealed that the technology is being incorporated into video games, with EA’s “Dragon Age: The Vailguard” becoming the first EA title to offer HDR 10+ gaming functionality that delivers improved HDR performance on compatible PCs and displays.

In a statement regarding the expansion of HDR10+, Bill Mandel, co-manager of HDR10+ Technologies, LLC, said:

“HDR10+ is supported by a number of leading TV manufacturers who represent nearly 80 percent of the total global market. This technology is also found on the most popular media players and dongles and works on a variety of content as well, including movies and episodic television, video games, packaged media, live events, in-flight entertainment and NextGen TV (ATSC 3.0) broadcasts”.

Disney hasn’t announced when HDR10+ will be made available to subscribers around the world, but in order to use the technology, you’ll need a compatible device to use it.
