Continuing on with the global trend of Disney closing its traditional linear television channels, more channels have been confirmed to be closing in Latin America at the end of March 2022.

The closures are happening so that they can reduce costs and hopefully, move more subscribers to Disney’s streaming services across Latin America, Disney+ and Star+.

Disney will be closing across Latin America on Thursday 31st March 2022.

  • Disney XD
  • Nat Geo Wild
  • Nat Geo Kids
  • FM Movies
  • Star Life

Disney also closed several Star Premium channel channels across Latin America at the end of January 2022.

We should expect content from the National Geographic and Dinsey XD channels to shift to Disney+ and Star Life to move over to Star+.

Last year, Disney CEO Bob Chapek said that they had closed 30 channels globally in 2020 and had planned on closing nearly 100 channels in 2021.  So we should expect more channels to close in the future, as Disney focus more on streaming platforms.

What do you think of Disney closing these TV channels?
