Earlier this year, it was revealed that Disney was in the early stages of development of a brand new film featuring the popular Disney Theme Park character, Figment, who is a purple dragon that will spark creativity and help imagination soar, who can be found in the Journey Into Imagination With Figment attraction in the Imagination Pavillion in Disney’s Epcot theme park in Walt Disney World.

Figment has been keeping fans entertained in Epcot since 1983 and was created by Walt Disney Imagineers Tony Baxter and Steve Kirk, among other collaborators. Over the years, the character has been featured in a comic book series by Marvel. Figment has also even made some cameo appearances in Pixar’s “Inside Out” and “Toy Story 4”.

Recently, Disney introduced a new meet and greet experience at Epcot in Walt Disney World that, when it opened, had a queue of over five hours as Disney fans wanted to have a photo with the character.

Disney has teased that a new project is in development, as in a social media post, we see Figment running around the Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank, California and visiting the Imagineering building.

Figment recently journeyed to Walt Disney Studios to meet Cast Members and gather new sparks of imagination. We can’t wait to see what Figment dreams up next.

Wait, is that our imagination? Or is Figment really at Walt Disney Studios? 🤨 #Disney #DisneyParks #Figment #DisneyStudios #Imagination #Disney100

The new film is set to be created by Seth Rogen’s Point Grey, with Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit writing the film. They have previously written “The Addams Family 2”, “Detective Pikachu”, and the upcoming Hulu/Star Original animated series, “Koala Man”.

Disney has had huge success with turning some of its classic Disney theme park attractions into films, with “Jungle Cruise”, “Haunted Mansion” and “Pirates Of The Caribbean”, so it makes some sense to utilise a popular character and expand the reach of Figment to a larger audience.
