With millions of people around the world stuck at home during the Coronavirus crisis, Disney+ has seen a huge spike in subscriptions. Between March 14th and March 16th, Disney+ signups have more than tripled over the previous week, according to streaming analytics firm Antenna via Forbes.  Disney+ saw the biggest jump in subscriptions, with Netflix also seeing a 47% increase in new signups, along with Apple+ gaining 10%.

This shouldn’t come as a complete surprise as Disney+ is full of huge blockbuster movies to keep families and children entertained, making it a perfect distraction from all of the craziness.

The big question is how many of these new subscribers will stay around once their free trial or the Coronavirus problem disappears, but with Disney losing money across many of its businesses with cinemas closed down and theme parks shut down, this will no doubt be good news for the Walt Disney Company,

This rise also doesn’t take in consideration the European launch, which took place earlier this week and added millions of new subscribers to the streaming platform.
