On Sunday evening, the 2024 People’s Choice awards took place at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar in California and was hosted by “Shang-Chi” actor, Simu Liu. The event was streamed live on NBC, Peacock and E!.   The general public votes for these awards, giving us a good indication of what’s popular right now.

Disney had a very successful haul of awards from the television categories, with “Only Murders In The Building” picking up the award for Comedy Show Of The Year, along with Female TV Star Of The Year.   FX’s “The Bear” star Jeremy Allen White won the Best Comedy TV Star Of The Year award.

Meanwhile, the Disney+ Original series “Loki” won the Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show Of The Year award, and “The Kardashians” won two awards,  the Best Reality Show Of The Year and Best Reality TV Star Of The Year.

ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy”, which is returning for a 20th season in March, won the award for “Show Of The Year” and “Dancing With The Stars” contestant Ariana Madix also won the Competition Contestant of the Year award.

Unfortunately, Disney was completely blocked out from winning any awards in the movie categories this year, with “Barbie”, “The Hunger Games” and “Oppenheimer” winning most of the movie awards.
