Disney Reveals 20th Century Studios’ “Whalefall” Release Date
Disney has revealed the theatrical release date for the upcoming movie from 20th Century Studios, “Whalefall”, which is based on Daniel Kraus’s best-selling novel of the same name.
“Whalefall” has been described as “The Martian” meets “127 Hours” and tells the story of a scuba diver in search of his deceased father’s remains. The diver gets swallowed by an 80-foot, 60-ton sperm whale and has only one hour to escape before his oxygen runs out. After giving up on life, the man is surprised to find a reason to live in the most dangerous and unlikely of places.
Austin Abrams, Josh Brolin, Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, Jane Levy and Emily Rudd will star in the new movie, which is being directed and co-written by Brian Duffield, who previously worked with 20th Century Studios on the Hulu Original film, “No One Can Save You” and “Underwater”.
“Whalefall” will be released in cinemas on October 16th, 2026, and so we are likely to see it released on Disney+ and Hulu in early 2027.
