Disney has announced that it has pulled forward the release of the new original series, “Good American Family” for Disney+ in the United Kingdom and Ireland by a month.

While the show debuted last month in the United States on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+, in addition to on Disney+ in many other countries like Canada and Australia, the UK and European release was held back until May until the entire series could be released in a binge drop.

Now the first five episodes of Good American Family will drop onto Disney+ in the UK and Ireland on Wednesday, 9th April 2025, catching up with the release schedule of the rest of the world.  With a new episode being released weekly, with the series finally dropping onto Disney+ on Wednesday, 30th April 2025.

Told from multiple points of view, as a means to explore issues of perspective, bias, and trauma, it is inspired by the disturbing stories surrounding a Midwestern couple who adopt a girl with a rare form of dwarfism. As they begin to raise her alongside their three biological children, mystery emerges around her age and background, and they slowly start to suspect she may not be who she says she is.

The eight-episode series stars Ellen Pompeo, Mark Duplass, Imogen Faith Reid, Dulé Hill, Christina Hendricks, Sarayu Blue and Jenny O’Hara, and is created / produced by Katie Robbins (Sunny, The Affair).

Katie Robbins serves as creator and executive producer and ran the show with Executive Producer Sarah Sutherland. Ellen Pompeo executive produces through her production banner Calamity Jane with Laura Holstein. Andrew Stearn, Dan Spilo, Niles Kirchner and Mike Epps also executive produce. Liz Garbus directed and executive produced the pilot. The limited series is produced by 20th Television.

Roger’s Take:  I’m really glad Disney has bumped up the release of this show. Only last week, I saw Ellen Pompeo appearing on mainstream outlets like “Lorriane” promoting the show, and Disney even gave it a special screening in London, yet the show wasn’t coming out for months.  This show should have always been released globally at the same time, especially as it makes no sense to delay a UK release.  The good news is that UK Disney+ subscribers will now be able to watch the show much earlier and I’m going to be checking it out.
