Back in 2021, Disney+ was made available within the Tesla Theater on select Tesla vehicles and can only be accessed when a car is in parked mode, so it can’t be used while the car is moving.

Last month, during the New York Times DealBook Summit, Elon Musk called out Disney CEO Bob Iger during an interview following Disney, Apple, IBM, and Walmart other advertisers stopping their advertising campaigns over their worries over content moderation rules and Elon Musk’s endorsement of an antisemitic conspiracy theory on X aka Twitter.

Elon Musk also called out Bob Iger on X shortly after his appearance, calling for him to be fired and saying that Walt Disney would be spinning in his grave over how the company was run.

Following that public spat, Telsa owners have been reporting over the weekend that the Disney+ app is now no longer available for some users within the Tesla Theater, that haven’t accessed the app recently.  Some Tesla owners are also reporting on social media that the app is still showing for them, but only because they’ve recently used the app.  The Netflix, YouTube and Twitch apps are still available via the Tesla Theater.

Disney+ subscribers can continue to access the streaming service from within the Tesla Theatre’s internet browser if they want to access Disney’s films and shows.   So families can still enjoy Disney+ content, but not via an official app.

It’s unknown if the removal of the Disney+ app has been removed because Elon Musk doesn’t want the app on his system following his public attacks on the company.   Or if Disney requested for it to be removed, that’s less likely, since Disney won’t likely want to cause additional PR issues.

It’s also possible that Disney has stopped support for the Disney+ app for Tesla devices, which isn’t uncommon for older devices or if not enough users are using the app to warrant continuing development.  But it’s probably more than likely that this has come from Elon Musk’s side, which will likely annoy Disney+ subscribers who have Tesla vehicles.
