For the past few weeks, Disney has been releasing a new song every Wednesday from its upcoming animated film, “Wish”, as part of its “Wish Wednesdays” campaign and today, the final song has been released, ahead of the movie arriving in cinemas on November 22nd 2023.

The brand new song, “Knowing What I Know Now,” is now available on SiriusXM’s Disney Hits Channel 133, YouTube, Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music and all digital service providers.

With a nod to Walt Disney’s musical legacy as the company marks 100 years, Walt Disney Animation Studios “Wish” welcomes audiences to the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.

The film features the voices of Academy Award-winning actor Ariana DeBose as Asha, Chris Pine as Magnifico, and Alan Tudyk as Asha’s favourite goat, Valentino. The film is helmed by Oscar-winning director Chris Buck (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (“Raya and the Last Dragon”), and produced by Peter Del Vecho(“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster Jones (“Encanto”). Jennifer Lee (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) executive produces—Lee and Allison Moore (“Night Sky,” “Manhunt”) are writers on the project.

The new song is performed by Ariana DeBose as Asha, Angelique Cabral as Queen Amaya and “Wish” cast members, which you can watch below:

All seven songs in the film were penned by Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice.

According to director Chris Buck, who said in a statement:

“Knowing What I Know Now” showcases the moment when the people around Asha realize that she is on the right path as she takes on the formidable king and his intentions for most of the wishes. “It’s a bit of a rally cry that shows the depth of her support system.  Asha is leading the charge all alone at first, but when her friends and an important figure in the community see that change is in order, Asha’s journey is validated and fueled.”

Julia Michaels added:

“Everyone finally starts opening their eyes to what Magnifico really is,.  Asha is trying to get her friends to join her in the fight to get everyone their wishes back. By the end of the song, everyone’s in it together. It’s drum-heavy and emotional.”

Benjamin Rice also said he loves the song because of the raw energy and truth to power that the song speaks and added:

“It is a powerful moment that gives me goosebumps every time.  The bridge of this song is one of my favorite musical moments of the film and it encapsulates the journey that the teens have been on in their own struggle to stand up to Magnifico.”
