Disney+ Picks Up “Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir” Global Streaming Rights
Disney+ has acquired the streaming rights to all five seasons of “Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir” from ZAG and ON Kids & Family. They’ve worldwide rights to the series, except for Brazil, Korea and China. They’ve also got the linear traditional television rights globally, except for US, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Korea and China.
“Miraculous™: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir” follows the adventures of two seemingly typical teens with secret identities, Marinette and Adrien, who magically transform into superheroes, Ladybug and Cat Noir. As secret superheroes, Ladybug and Cat Noir are partners in the action. But in the daytime, Marinette is just a normal girl, living a normal life. Cat Noir will do anything to support and impress Ladybug, but does not know this is Marinette from his class. Marinette, the regular girl, in turn dreams of Adrien and simply gets little response. When evil threatens Paris, their beloved City of Lights, can they beat the unexpected villains?
The first three seasons of “Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir” are already available on Disney+ in some countries such as the United Kingdom. With the fourth season due to arrive later this year, with season 5 due to be released in 2022.
Recently Disney+ added the spin-off movie “Miraculous World: New York, United HeroeZ” on to Disney+ and a second film “Miraculous World: Shanghai—The Legend of Lady Dragon” will be coming to Disney+ later this year.
No Disney+ release date for the first three seasons has yet been announced.
The series was originally ordered by Disney EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and airs in more than 120 countries. The series is also currently available on Netflix in some countries, it’s currently unclear if these will be leaving Netflix when it’s released on Disney+.
