As Disney continues to look to cut costs to save $5 billion to make its streaming services profitable,  it has been revealed by Deadline, that the Disney+ Original series, “National Treasure: Edge Of History” will not be returning for a second season.

The series tells the story of Jess Valenzuela, who’s life is turned upside down when an enigmatic stranger gives her a clue to a centuries-old treasure that might be connected to her long-dead father. Jess has a knack for solving puzzles, and her skills are put to the test as she and her friends follow a series of clues hidden in American artifacts and landmarks. But can Jess outsmart a black-market antiquities dealer in a race to find history’s greatest lost treasure and unbury the truth about her family’s past?

The Disney+ Original series, “National Treasure: Edge of History” is an expansion of the “National Treasure” movie franchise. Jerry Bruckheimer, Cormac & Marianne Wibberley, Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed serve as executive producers on the series alongside Rick Muirragui, who also serves as a writer. Jon Turteltaub is also an executive producer. Mira Nair is directing and executive producing. “National Treasure: Edge of History” is produced by ABC Signature.

This is the latest Disney+ Original to be cancelled, as a number of non-Marvel and Star Wars drama series aren’t returning for more seasons including “Big Shot”, “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers”, “Willow”, “Diary Of A Wimpy Kid”, “The Right Stuff”, “The Mysterious Benedict Society”, “Diary Of A Future President” and “Turner & Hooch”.   It does seem that Disney+ is really struggling to find long running shows for the streaming service, that aren’t part of an expanded Star Wars or Marvel universe.

While the series did manage to break into the top ten Nielsen streaming charts, it wasn’t able to pull in enough of an audience to save it.
