Disney+ Original “Moving” Season Two Begins Production

Back in 2023, Disney released a brand new Korean superhero drama series called “Moving”, which took the world by storm and became the most-watched Korean original series on Hulu and Disney+ at the time.

“Moving” tells the story of a group of South Korean special agents working to protect their super-powered children from harm and exploitation at the hands of malicious government agencies. Initially recruited because of their extraordinary abilities to fly, instantly heal and use their enhanced senses in the field, the agents disappeared without a trace after being tasked with carrying out increasingly dubious missions. But with their children now exhibiting similar abilities and a dangerous assassin rapidly picking off super-powered individuals, the parents must leave their peaceful lives behind to become the “monsters” they once were.

Following that initial success, it was announced a second season was in development and this weekend, Disney has confirmed that promotion has now begun on the second season.

Many of the original cast, including Ryu Seung-ryong, Han Hyo-joo, Zo In-sung, Go Youn-jung, Ryu Seung-bum, Go Younjung, Kim Do-hoon and Shim Dal-gi are all returning for the second season.

However, it was also confirmed that Won Gyu-bin has joined the cast of the second season, who will be replacing Lee Jung-ha, who played Kim Bong-seok. This is happening because Lee is currently taking part in Korea’s military service.

The second season will pick up in the days immediately after the Jeongwon High School incident at the end of the first, when North and South Korean agents fought, and sees the heroes settling back into normal life, only for new threats to emerge.

Season two will be written by the webtoon creator, Kangfull, who also said in a statement regarding the new s

“With the first season of Moving, my goal was to establish a new benchmark for Korean superhero narratives. For the second, I intend to raise that bar even higher, evolving the series into something truly exceptional.”

Carol Choi, Executive Vice President of APAC Original Content Strategy at The Walt Disney Company, also said:

“Moving demonstrated that premium Korean storytelling, rooted in emotion and delivered with cinematic ambition, can resonate with audiences around the world in a truly powerful way. As we look ahead to Season 2, we’re excited to build on that success with our creative partners and further expand the world of Moving for fans across the globe.”

The first season of “Moving” is available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu now.   No release date for the second season has been revealed, but I’d expect it to arrive on Hulu and Disney+ in 2027, since they’ll have to work on some of the special effects, since it’s a superhero-themed show, and that’ll take a little extra post-production time.

Roger’s Take: I really enjoyed the first season of “Moving”, so I’m certainly looking forward to the return of the show on Hulu and Disney+
