Disney Lorcana – Fabled Unboxing
Over two years have passed since Ravensburger launched its brand new Trading Card Game, “Disney Lorcana”, which is set in the wondrous realm of the larger Disney universe. Players take on the role of Illumineers and wield magic ink to summon a team of Disney characters known as glimmers, who appear in both familiar and fantastical ways.
This game has been a huge success and it features artwork from many well-known Disney movies, such as “Beauty And The Beast”, “Tangled”, “Mulan”, “Princess And The Frog” and more, all of which can be watched on Disney+, as well as the classic characters like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy.
The ninth set to be released is called “Fabled” and features characters from many popular movies on Disney+, such as “Dumbo” and “The Goofy Movie”, which are being represented for the first time in the game.
Ravensburger has sent me over the two single-player sets and a booster box to show off some of the incredible artwork in the game, which features many different movies and shows from Disney+, such as:
- 101 Dalmatians
- Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs
- Lilo & Stitch
- Cinderella
- Sleeping Beauty
- Aladdin
- Robin Hood
- Tangled
- Beauty And The Beast
- Mulan
- Peter Pan
- The Little Mermaid
- Moana
- Encanto
- The Lion King
- Frozen
- Winnie The Pooh
- Hercules
- Fantasia
- Treasure Planet
- The Jungle Book
- Pinocchio
- Raya The Last Dragon
- Alice In Wonderland
- Duck Tales
- Zootopia
- Princess And The Frog
- And many more

This new set is also a soft reboot for the game, as it introduces set rotation into its core game, which is a way of recycling some of the most popular cards from the first four sets, while also giving the competitive game an overhaul by making many cards from the first year no longer playable in most tournaments. However, Ravensburger has also introduced a new “Infinity” format, which allows for every card ever released to be played, so casual fans or those who love some of the older cards, can still use their collection.
Rotation isn’t anything new to trading card games, as many competitors, such as Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon, also have regular resets to force players to redesign their decks, keeping the game fresh and interesting.
Roger’s Take: “Fabled” is an interesting and complicated set, as a collector of the game since day one, having so many reprints of cards from the first four sets is disappointing and moving forward, I’d hope Ravensburger does all new artwork for any reprints, to keep collectors more engaged. I do think the introduction of the new rarity that sits between Enchanted and Legendary is a great step forward, along with the chase of the Iconic. “Fabled” is a great jumping on point for new players, or those that have recently started playing, but Ravensburger has to do better next time it attempts this “reset”, to appeal to everyone.
The new “Fabled” set arrives in hobby stores on August 29th 2025 (check out your local game store to see if they are doing a pre-release event) and it will be released a week later on September 5th 2025, at other retailers
