With many people staying at home this Christmas and Pixar’s latest animated movie, “Soul” arriving on Christmas Day, Disney+ had a massive bump in downloads.

According to market-research firm Sensor Tower, Disney+ had 2.3 million global installations over the Christmas holiday (Friday to Sunday).

This was a 28% increase over the previous weekend.

While “Soul” was released on Disney+ in many countries, it was released in cinemas in many places without Disney+.  The film pulled in about $7.6 million at the box office in several international countries, including China.

This past weekend was a big test for both Disney and Warner Brothers, who released two notable titles on Christmas Day.  DC’s Wonder Woman 1984 pulled in over 554,000 new users for HBO Max in the United States over the same three days.
