Disney has released its latest annual earnings report in the United Kingdom for the year October 2023, through to September 2024, which has highlighted that it’s been able to increase its revenue following the launch of an ad-supported tier in many countries across Europe, The Middle East and Africa.

According to the filing with Companies House, Disney was able to increase its profits by 3% to £588.898, with its sales hitting £3.97 billion.

The filing states that “The increase in turnover and profit for the period is mainly driven by the strong performance of Disney+ in the year, supported by the introduction of the new subscription tier model in November 2023″.

During the report, it also highlighted that “New Disney+ subscriber tiers launched in November 2023 within certain Western European Markets (including the UK). The release of the tiered subscription system has driven an increase in Disney+ revenues. The success of the new system has helped to bring our exciting Disney+ streaming catalogue into many more homes during 2024 and we hope it will continue to do so for years to come.”

Disney has been heavily promoting the ad-supported tier of Disney+ in many countries across Europe, The Middle East and Africa, with most new subscribers signing up for the cheaper plan, which ironically makes Disney more money through advertising.

There are also numerous opportunities for Disney to increase its revenue across the region, as the ad-supported tier is not yet available in many countries within the EMEA area, and there are still many countries where the streaming service could launch.  So there is plenty of growth available within EMEA.
