Disney has been planing a special European launch event in London later this week, which was going to showcase Disney+ to members of the press including What’s On Disney Plus and a selected bunch of fans, which had won their place from social media competitions.

Unfortunately, due to concern from the Coronavirus, Disney has scaled back the event.

A Disney spokesperson told the Hollywood Reporter:

“Due to a number of media attendee cancellations and increasing concerns at the prospect of traveling internationally at this time, we have decided to cancel our Disney+ launch events scheduled to take place on Thursday and Friday.”

Now the executive press briefing would now take place next week over webcast.

For U.K.-based journalists, Disney is still going to open a Disney+ lounge for product demonstrations and will find “alternative means” to make talent available to those who were due to attend the Disney+ Originals event.

Disney+ will launch on March 24 across the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Switzerland.
