Walt Disney Studios is developing a brand new live-action Fantasy/Sci-Fi infused movie that is currently called “1001 Nights”, which is inspired by the classic collection of Middle East folk tales, “One Thousand And One Nights”, aka “Arabian Nights”.

According to Deadline, it will be an original story that is inspired by the collection. It won’t be released to “Aladdin”, which was based on “Aladdin’s Wonderful Lamp”, which is one of the stories contained in the Arabian Nights collection, along with other well-known stories such as “Ali Baba And The Forty Thieves” and “The Seven Voyages Of Sinbad The Sailor”, which have been turned into many movies before.

“One Thousand and One Nights” was compiled over many centuries by various authors, translators, and scholars across West, Central and South Asia, and North Africa.

This new film is going to be written and executive produced by Arash Amel, who previously has written the Disney+ Original film, “Rise” and “A Private War”.

No official details have yet been revealed, such as what the plot will be. With the Sci-Fi/Fantasy element, the film might not necessarily be set in the past, but could be something like “Treasure Planet”, which took a classic story and set it in the future.

It’s not yet known if this will be a theatrical release or a Disney+ Original film.
