After the success of “Moana”, “Mary Poppins Returns”, “Mufasa”, “Encanto” and “Hamilton”, Disney is once again working with Lin-Manuel Miranda on a brand new movie called “Molina”, which is based on the New York Times best-selling autobiographical book, “Molina: The Story of the Father Who Raised an Unlikely Baseball Dynasty” by Bengie Molina.

The movie will use the autobiography as the main focus of the story, which takes a look at the father who raised the greatest catcher-siblings in the history of major league baseball, Bengie, Jose, and Yadier Molina, who have six World Series rings among them.

According to Deadline, Jose Rivera, who has previously worked on “Motorcycle Diaries” and “100 Years of Solitude”, will be writing the script for the project.

Lin-Manuel Miranda and Luis Miranda, Jr are going to be producing the movie, along with Rideback’s Jonathan Eirich, who has worked on the upcoming “Lilo & Stitch” remake”. Diana Nabatoff of Tiara Blu Films, will also be a producer and she was the one who secured the movie rights to the book. Rideback’s Nick Reynolds is an executive producer.

As with all projects still in early development, very few details are known about the film, such as who will be starring in it, or when it will begin filming, nor when it will be release, either in cinemas or directly on Disney+.
