Disney has announced a major reshuffle of its upcoming film schedule following the writer’s strike, impacting on many projects, since scripts are currently on pause, and so filming can’t continue as planned.  This has seen the entire theatrical film slate moved around, with many delays plus some other new films added onto the schedule, which will also have an impact on when the films arrive on Disney+.

For Marvel, “Deadpool 3” will now be released earlier than announced, on May 3rd 2024, instead of in November, with “Captain America: Brave New World” being bumped back to July 26th 2024.  “Thunderbolts” is also moving back from the summer, onto December 20th 2023.  Meanwhile, “Blade” is also getting a delay from September 6th 2024, to Valentine’s Day 2025, which has now bumped “Fantastic Four” a few months, which will now release on May 2nd 2025, instead.

The reshuffling continues as “Avengers: Kang Dynasty” will be delayed a whole year, from May 2nd 2025 to May 1st 2026.  And “Avengers: Secret Wars” will also get delayed a year until May 7th 2027.

The third instalment of the “Avatar” franchise is also going to be delayed a year, moving from December 20th 2024 until December 19th 2025, which also pushes back “Avatar 4” a year until December 21st 2029 and “Avatar 5” gets delayed even longer, back to December 19th 2031!

Back at Star Wars Celebration in April, it was revealed Disney was making some new films, so the schedule has changed two untitled movies are now on the list.  One movie is moving from December 19th 2025, to May 22nd 2026 and an titled Star Wars film gets added to the schedule on December 18th 2026.

Disney has also added the live-action remake of “Moana” to the release schedule for 27th June 2025 and a new instalment of the “Alien” franchise will arrive on 16th August 2024.
