Disney Confirms “Zootopia 3” Is In Development
During Disney’s Entertainment Showcase at the D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, Disney Animation head Jared Bush, along with Ginnifer Goodwin and Ke Huy Quan, took to the stage to confirm that Disney Animation Studios is already working on a third instalment in the “Zootopia” franchise is in the works.
The first film was released in 2016 and became a billion-dollar movie. It told the story of what happens when Judy Hopps, a rookie officer in the Zootopia Police Department, sniffs out a sinister plot, she enlists the help of a con artist to solve the case in order to prove her abilities to Chief Bogo.
A sequel film was released in 2025 and was an even bigger box office hit, bringing in almost $2 billion and told the story of rookie cops Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde finding themselves on the twisting trail of a great mystery when Gary De’Snake arrives in Zootropolis and turns the animal metropolis upside down. To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before.
No details on the third film, such as when it will be released in cinemas or Disney+ have been revealed, but we do know that it will focus on introducing birds into the franchise.
