Disney+ Adds New Top Ten List To Home Page
Ever since Disney+ launched back in 2019, it’s been making small changes to how the streaming service looks and most recently, Disney CEO Bob Iger spoke about how they need to make some more changes to the platform to encourage more engagement, especially in reference to its technology to catch up with Netflix.
Today, Disney+ has introduced a brand new feature to the home page, a new Top Ten list, highlighting the biggest shows and films currently being watched. Due to different content availability, these top ten lists will vary depending on your location.
Here’s a look at the new Top Ten list:
- Note: I’m currently in Türkiye on vacation, so hence why it looks a little different that normal.
The Top Ten list is slowly working its way out to all users, so you may need to update your app to get the new version. This is in addition to the new “Streams” playlists that launched in the United States today as well.
This new feature is in addition to the trending list, which continues to be available. The new feature does look very similar to Netflix and Hulu. It showcases the biggest hits of the streaming service in vertical boxes, breaking up row after row of horizontal rectangles, drawing your eyes to them.
Roger’s Take: I think the Disney+ home drastically needs an update and should become more personalized. A Top Ten list makes complete sense since it attracts your attention straight to the biggest shows and films right now. It’s such a simple idea, but it seems to have taken a while to implement.
