Disney ABC Television Becomes Walt Disney Television
With Disney completing its purchase of 21st Century Fox, there have been some juggling around by the Walt Disney Company with its departments including the Disney-ABC Television Group since it has obtained FX, National Geographic and Fox Studios 21.
The television division has gone back to its original name “Walt Disney Television” and includes the following units:
- Disney Channel
- Disney Junior
- Disney XD
- ABC Studios
- ABC News
- Freeform
- FX
- Fox Television Studios 21
- National Geographic
- Radio Disney
- ABC Controlled Channels
- FXX
- Fox Studios
Peter Rice, who was the CEO and president of Fox Networks Group will serve as the chairman and president of Walt Disney Television.
All of the international Disney Channels also now come under this group.
Many of these TV units will be making original content for Disney+ such as National Geographic and the Disney Channel. And the huge library will also be a major part of Disney+. This is one of the major reasons why Disney purchased 21st Century Fox, to help boost Disney’s direct to consumer products.
Over the coming weeks and months ahead, expect to see more changes within the Walt Disney Company as they sort out the 21st Century Fox purchase.
Disney+ is due to be shown off at next months Investor Day and now the Fox Deal has finalised, expect more details to be revealed soon.
