DIRECTV Gemini To Offer Disney+, Hulu & ESPN
Over the past few years, we’ve seen Disney teaming up with many partners to offer ad-supported versions of its streaming services in a number of bundles, often as part of carriage deals, which are part of a way of keeping existing cable customers subscribed, as having access to platforms like ESPN and Disney+, is often more desirable than more linear channels.
This week, DIRECTV has announced that all eligible Signature Package or grandfathered plan customers streaming with a Gemini device will now receive Disney+, Hulu Bundle (with ads) and ESPN Unlimited included with your subscription.
Subscribers will get an activation email from DIRECTV with instructions on how to set up their Disney+, Hulu Bundle account. Subscribers will receive a separate activation email for ESPN Unlimited.
Gemini users will also find Disney+, Hulu, ESPN and more great streaming apps preloaded under the Featured Apps section on DIRECTV Gemini devices.
Existing subscribers who already have a subscription to Disney+ may need to cancel their existing subscription before activating the bundle included with DIRECTV. I
Roger’s Take: Bundling Disney+, Hulu and ESPN Unlimited into cable packages has quickly become a standard way for cable and internet providers to offer more value to subscribers. It also benefits Disney, as it gets more long-term paid subscribers, who are less likely to churn, and anything watched on those streaming platforms also generates additional revenue through advertising. For Gemini users, they’ve not got access to plenty more content and don’t have to pay any more for it, so it seems like a great way of keeping everyone happy.
