“Death And Other Details” Cancelled After One Season
Earlier this year, Disney released a brand new murder mystery series called “Death And Other Details”, which told the story of the brilliant and restless Imogene Scott, who finds herself in the wrong place/wrong time (okay, it was kinda her fault) and becomes the prime suspect in a locked room murder mystery. The setting? A lavishly restored Mediterranean ocean liner. Suspects? Every pampered guest and every exhausted crew member. The problem? To prove her innocence, she must partner with a man she despises – Rufus Cotesworth, the world’s greatest detective.
The series was released as a Hulu Original in the United States and as a Star Original on Disney+ around the world, but unfortunately, it wasn’t able to find an audience, and thus, Deadline has revealed that the series has been cancelled after one season.
The series starred Violett Beane, Mandy Patinkin, Lauren Patten, Rahul Kohli, Angela Zhou, Hugo Diego Garcia, Pardis Saremi and Linda Emond.
“Death and Other Details” was produced by ABC Signature. It was written and executive produced by Mike Weiss and Heidi Cole McAdams, who also serve as showrunners. Marc Webb directed the pilot and executive produced along with Mark Martin for Black Lamb. David Petrarca also serves as executive producer.
Unfortunately, while we did find out who the killer was in the season finale, there was a cliffhanger that set up a second season, which we will never find the conclusion of.
One of the issues with the release of this series was that Disney held back the European Disney+ release until only earlier this month, which wouldn’t have helped, though the show has been trending on Disney+ in the UK since it premiered. Unfortunately, it never pulled in enough audiences in the United States on Hulu.
As with any recent cancelled series, if you haven’t finished watching the show or had plans to do so, I’d recommend watching it sooner rather than later, as cancelled shows are sometimes removed from Disney’s streaming services to save them money.
You’ll find “Death And Other Details” available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States, on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ around the world.
