“Crater” Social Media Early Reactions Revealed
On Friday, 12th May 2023, Disney is releasing a brand new original film called, “Crater” on Disney+, which is the story of Caleb Channing, who was raised on a lunar mining colony and is about to be permanently relocated to an idyllic faraway planet following the death of his father. But before leaving, to fulfil his dad’s last wish, he and his three best friends, Dylan, Borney and Marcus, and a new arrival from Earth, Addison, hijack a rover for one final adventure on a journey to explore a mysterious crater.
Recently, critics have been able to share their early thoughts on the film on social media, ahead of the film’s release. Here is a look at some of the early reactions:
#crater is a good family film with plenty of Goonies/Stand By Me/stranger things vibes, but it’s an adventure on the moon. I enjoyed it. Makes you appreciate growing up on Earth! The ending hits harder for adult viewers. Arrives on #disneyplus on May 12th pic.twitter.com/jDdlLrVCFV

CRATER was a pretty cool space road trip/friendship movie.
It had a "Stand By Me" vibe to it that I enjoyed.
The cast especially Mckenna Grace really put their heart into their respective roles. And the film's theme of appreciating our home planet was life-affirming.#Crater pic.twitter.com/2WxGthd2gN— Rama's Screen (@RamasScreen) May 3, 2023
I got to see #CRATER!
A fun Goonies style space adventure about young friendship & hope. I loved the diverse cast led by Isaiah Russell-Bailey.
I wasn’t ready for how emotionally poignant it would be. Ending nearly had me in tears.#CraterMovie premieres 5/12 on #DisneyPlus! pic.twitter.com/k6YIXokxLe

Crater on Disney+ is a bit disappointing when you combine everything together. It's a fine story of kids going off on a strange sci-fi adventure (it even comes from producers of Stranger Things). That storytelling and the effects really hold it back from being special. #Crater pic.twitter.com/IbtrWirkBE

#Crater is at war with itself as it struggles to maintain the whimsey of an old-school Disney movie while tackling complex social/environmental issues. It's okay, but the ending goes pretty hard for a film geared toward families, & I worry young ones won't like that. #DisneyPlus pic.twitter.com/TWZ5A3yxqX

Disney's #Crater gives off Goonies-in-space vibes, although the gravity of the plot gets a lot heavier than Steven Spielberg, Chris Columbus, and Richard Donner would have gone in the 80's. Streaming May 12th on #DisneyPlus. pic.twitter.com/GDtBQFWcYg
