One of ABC’s most popular series, “How To Get Away With Murder”, is set to leave Netflix soon, opening the door for this series to likely head to Hulu and Disney+ around the world at a later date.

From the creators of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal”, this suspense-driven legal thriller is about a law professor who gets entangled with four law students from her class. Little do they know that they will have to apply what they learn to real life.

“How To Get Away With Murder” stars Viola Davis, Billy Brown and Alfred Enoch.

According to What’s On Netflix, all six seasons of “How To Get Away With Murder” will be removed from Netflix in the United States on October 1st 2024.  With the series being removed from Netflix in many other countries including the UK a few months later on December 9th, 2024.

The series originally debuted in 2014 and ran for ninety episodes across six seasons, with the season finale airing on ABC in May 2020.  Due to a long-standing agreement with Netflix, the show has been available on Netflix since 2015, with a new season being added each year, usually a month after the season finale.

Disney hasn’t confirmed that “How To Get Away With Murder” will be coming to Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States or on Disney+ internationally, but it’s extremely likely we will see it added soon, either on the same day or possibly a month or so later, as sometimes there is a window between licensing deals ending before they can appear elsewhere.

Over the past few years, Disney has been getting back streaming access to many of its popular shows, like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Daredevil” back from Netflix for a number of reasons, including a large deal to return many shows plus also a shared exclusive deal for the popular long-running hospital drama.   However, since it’s likely the “How To Get Away With Murder” contract was going to expire, Disney didn’t make a deal to get it back earlier.

Since Disney is also trying to increase its profits from its streaming division, it also wouldn’t be a huge surprise if the show is also licensed out on a non-exclusive to other streaming services or FAST (Free Ad Supported) platforms to make some additional revenue.

Roger’s Take:  With “How To Get Away With Murder” leaving Netflix, I’d bet 99% chance that the series will be available on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ within a few months, as this is going to be another big popular series to help keep subscribers engaged and when a big popular show like this is added onto Hulu/Disney+, it will get a boost in viewership from those who haven’t seen it or want to rewatch it.
